Different Forklift Tires

Monday, September 28th, 2009

There are three different types of forklift tires.

  • Solid
  • Pneumatic
  • Polyurethane

The solid forklift tire is completely made from rubber. These tires are good for the fact that they do not pop or become deflated. These tires last for a long time and should mostly be used inside.

Pneumatic tires are similar to the ones you find on a heavy duty truck and are filled with air. These forklift tires are made with strong rubber that is thick and has deep tread to help with resistance and wear and tear. Pneumatic tires help extend the life of the truck by providing a cushion of air between the vehicle and the terrain on which it is working. These tires are durable and tough.

The Polyurethane forklift tires should only be used indoors and they provide the operator with the right amount of traction. To install these wheels, they need to be pressed on the wheel of the Tuck and they are ready to go. These tires have the best output for electric forklifts.

There are so many different forklifts for so many different purposes. Each forklift offers something different but in order for the forklift to perform effectively and efficiently, each forklift needs to be fitted with the right type of forklift tires.

Each different tire has their own advantages and disadvantages.  Depending on the forklift and the situation the lift is used in, there are three main type of forklift tires:

  • Solid
  • Pneumatic
  • Polyurethane

The tires on a forklift will either be pressed on or standard. If a forklift has press on tires, the forklift will be suited for inside work and a forklift with a standard tire will be more suited for outdoors.
